In The Morning

I must be mad for divin’ in
This is deeper than my watch should really go
And it’s still worth a bit you know
I can’t resist what I get back
It’s such a good thing but I’m fallin’ further in
For someone that I’ll never win
We lay and watch the TV screen
And I wake up deeper than I’ve ever been
In the morning
The warnings come from all my friends
They all tell me that it’s gonna get me burned
And I remember what I learned
But when she turns up at my door
How am I supposed to treat her as a friend?
The colours always seem to blend
Our clothes are lyin’ on the floor
And I wake up deeper than I was before
In the morning
And as I sit inside my room
In my silence she’s still whisperin’ in my ear
She tells me things I wanna hear
And the deeper that I fall
All the easier to find the next excuse
So work me up and turn her loose
And I wonder where you are
I don’t wanna call up askin’ where you been
I keep those questions in a tin
With all the things that I hold dear
Like the letter you left beside my bed
I still remember all it said
And she doesn’t even know
And I wonder how much deeper it will go
In the morning, in the morning

I'll Be Alone

Take me down to your front garden
Tell your neighbours to close their blinds
Show me ’round in your apartment
We’ll be lucky to get outside
Well she’s got a way with words
A fatal shot that hit me first
I can’t count the times we played it
The record you never posted to me
It was hearin’ it now that made it
A soundtrack to slide in degrees
From the way my house was clean
You re-arranged everything
There’s nobody close around me
It doesn’t bother me at all
Just a hazy smoke surrounds me
Leadin’ halfway down the hall
Getting’ tired of conversations
With someone I used to know
Are you gonna call on Sunday
When you know I’ll be alone?
Everybody else around here
Has got somebody to hang on their walls
I prefer to leave mine empty
I’ll mark it down every time you call
Now the days are flashin’ by
I’m left here, I wonder why

Tell Me What To Sing
03:40

Composed by Mikey Madden © Mushroom Music Publishing
If I had a dollar for each name I can’t remember
I could buy a road to you
If you were a figment of imagined sunny weather
The lie would have to do, like it will in the spring
And it don’t mean a thing
Just tell me what to sing
Meet me at midnight over the arches of the river
We’ll watch the world be calm
And leave me at mornin’ with all your promises delivered
And roses on your arms, ‘cause they grow in the spring
And it don’t mean a thing
Just tell me what to sing
For all of my secrets, that won’t leave without a reason
They now belong to you
Allow me to find you a hole to put your fears in
It’s not that hard to do, nothing’s hard in the spring
And it don’t mean a thing
Just tell me what to sing
Just tell me what to sing
Just tell me what to sing

Three Months Gone

Composed by Chris Altmann & Mikey Madden © Mushroom Music Publishing
Well, three months gone and a headache’s on in my mind today
Runnin’ ‘round and ‘round only words I’ve found and not a line to say
When you hang around all my thoughts go underground
I still have my doubts but they’re too spaced out
Good times turnin’ bad, they’re just somethin’ that we never had
When you look at me what do ya see?
Well, three months gone and a headache’s on in my mind today
Runnin’ ‘round and ‘round only words I’ve found and not a line to say
Time makes people strange, you’re right there but you’re outta range
Standin’ by that shelf but you’re by yourself
I still take my turn, well I guess that I never learn
Climb out of that tree, what do you see?
Fillin’ up your life with your mortgage and your wife
Savin’ all your pay for a rainy day
I could take that road and despise everything I own
Now you’re breakin’ free what do you see?
Well, three months gone and a headache’s on in my mind today
Runnin’ ‘round and ‘round only words I’ve found and not a line to say
